This is not fresh news but worth mentioning. With the release of the Genesis Saloon, Hyundai started introducing its first in house built V8 engines known as the 'Tau' series.
The Early 4.6 V8 was released for the Genesis, later they showcased a prototype supercharged model of the 4.6. Then came the 5.0 V8 in their Equus, aka the Centennial which is the most powerful of the 'Tau' series.
The engine was listed in Ward's AutoWorld 'Ward's10 Best Engines' from 2009-2011 for its refined and smooth performance.
Specifications for the 4.6L Tau V8 engine:
Horsepower: 385 hp (287 kW)
Torque: 333 ft·lbf (451 N·m)
Displacement: 282.4 cid (4627 cc)
bore: 3.62 inches (92 mm)
Stroke: 3.42 inches (87 mm)
Compression ratio: 10.4:1
Block material: High pressure die casting aluminum block
Cylinder head material: Aluminum
Valvetrain: Dual Over Head Cam (DOHC)
Valve timing: Continuous variable valve timing
Variable induction system
Fuel delivery: Multi-port fuel injection
Recommended fuel: Premium Unleaded, though it can run safely on regular gasoline with reduced performance
Specifications for the 5.0L Tau V8 engine:
Horsepower: 429 hp (320 kW)
Torque: 376 ft·lbf (510 N·m)
Displacement: 5,038 cc
Compression ratio: 11.5:1
Block material: High pressure die casting aluminum block
Cylinder head material: Aluminum
Valvetrain: Dual Over Head Cam (DOHC)
Valve timing: Dual-Continuous variable valve timing(D-CVVT)
Variable induction system
Fuel delivery: Gasoline Direct Injection / Electronic Fuel Injection
Recommended fuel: Premium Unleaded, though it can run safely on regular gasoline with reduced performance

Though we spotted this discussion on a forum by some owners of 4.6 V8 models (pre 2011) of the Kia Mohave (Borrego in the US market) and the Hyundai Genesis. They seem to be complaining about some misfiring issue that makes the engine feel like its running on 1/2 of its cylinders.
